KATHARINA PELOSI: ZUKUNFTSMUSIK

11. February 2026, 19:00 - 21:00

Artist talk

Sound artist Katharina Pelosi from Hamburg presents and discusses her audio walk Zukunftsmusik – Wir werden uns erinnert haben

Zukunftsmusik is an audio walk created in 2025 in response to the mural on the outskirts of Oldenburg, which is dedicated to the city’s famous daughters but has sparked much controversy. The work explores connections between people and historical events in the urban landscape and asks: How will we have remembered? How will we look back in the future on people and contemporary debates, but also on the ways in which we remember? Names, monuments, murals – what will remain and why? Who will tell whose story in the future? Who will listen? And where will we gather to remember?

All these questions will also be discussed in conversation with Katharina Pelosi, who will also report on her working process on the project.

Katharina Pelosi (*1983) lives in Hamburg. She studied at the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies in Giessen and works as an audio artist in the fields of performance, radio drama and film. Her sound design work is characterised by an understanding of sound as an equal medium within the theatrical process; she performs live in many productions. She explores sound-based forms of remembrance and seeks to develop formal-aesthetic approaches rooted in feminist and postcolonial discourses. In addition to various acoustic projects, which have also been presented internationally, she has written an artistic dissertation entitled Recording, Arranging, Listening. Forms of Acoustic Memory in Post-Colonial Hamburg.

An event in cooperation with the Oldenburg State Theatre – Sparte 7 Admission to this event is free.
