Workshop

In collaboration with Cornelia Sollfrank, the Edith-Ruß-Haus for
media art and the cultural scientist Rahel Puffert, a
group of students from the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg
succeeded in persuading seven artists to each provide a
multi-part work in screen printing for the exhibition in the university’s main building
. In one case
heirs of a deceased artist were found
and persuaded to participate in this unique project.

The artists’ works reflect their
current creative status in terms of choice of motif, compositional ability and
technique and provide a comprehensive overview of the
variability of expressive possibilities. Thus, figurative
works, abstract and expressionist works as well as neo-conceptual
and interventionist approaches are united in an exhibition that could not be more contradictory
.

The artists taking part in the exhibition
may not be international celebrities, but
have often achieved some success in their respective fields.
The special achievement of the exhibition “on commission” is that it takes into account the
biographical situations and their impact on their life’s work in a special
form. The knowledge of the highlighted
artist’s personality helps the viewer to decode the works
and gives her direct access to the works.

The different works enter into a dialog with each other in the lecture hall center at
, which is intended to overcome the boundaries of art genres
. Students on Bachelor’s and Master’s degree courses
in Faculty III are given the special challenge of
art education.
