Edith Ruß was an editor during the Nazi era. Despite the lengthy debate over the name of the (former) Edith-Russ-Haus, not everyone is aware of exactly what that entails. The lecture will therefore begin with a brief overview of the press under National Socialism, before critically examining Ruß’s biography and the scholarly assessment of her work. In doing so, Ruß herself will have her say, through her articles. The lecture will then trace the debate surrounding the name change and conclude by addressing the current state of remembrance culture in Oldenburg.
